Cookie Policy

The short version: this site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device for analytics, and reads nothing from it. Visits are counted on the server, from the request your browser already makes to load the page, and only ever in aggregate.
1. Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Not for advertising, not for analytics, not for anything else. If you inspect the cookie jar for this domain you will find it empty.
That is not the whole story, though, and the rest of this page is the rest of the story.
2. Why a cookie policy still matters here
The law that governs this is not written about cookies. It is written about your device. Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive, and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations that implement the same rule, cover “the storing of information, or the gaining of access to information already stored, in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user”.
Cookies are one way to do that. Reading your screen width, or reading a value out of your browser’s local storage, is another. Both need your permission unless they are strictly necessary to provide the thing you actually asked for.
So the honest question is not “does this site set cookies”. It is “what does this site put on your device, and what does it read off it”. Here is the full list — and for analytics the answer is nothing, which is why this page no longer asks you anything.
3. What is stored on your device

That is the whole list. Nothing on it is for analytics.
4. Analytics, and why we do not ask
We use GoatCounter to count page views. It is a privacy-first tool: it sets no cookies, it does not build a profile of you, it does not follow you to other sites, and it is never used for advertising.
We do not load GoatCounter’s script. Instead, the page sends one small request to GoatCounter’s server when it loads, and one more when you do something we count as reading (scrolling a quarter, half, three quarters or all the way down; opening the sample; clicking through to the checkout). Each request carries only:
- the page you are on, and the page that sent you here, if your browser reports one;
- the name of the thing you did, for the reading events above.
Like every web request, it also carries your IP address and your browser’s standard headers. GoatCounter uses those to work out a country and a browser family, records those two facts as part of a daily total, and does not store the IP address or the headers themselves. There is no identifier, so it cannot tell whether two visits came from the same person. Its own account of what it keeps is in the GoatCounter privacy policy.
Nothing is written to your device to do this, and nothing is read from it — no cookie, no local storage, not even your screen size. The consent rule described in section 2 applies to storing or accessing information on your device. This does neither, so it does not apply, and we do not put a banner in front of you for it. The legal basis for counting is our legitimate interest in knowing how many people read this page (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
If you object to being counted even in this form, tell us at the address below and we will do what we can — though, because there is no identifier, there is nothing about you in the counts to remove.
5. Third parties
Two other companies are involved in running this site, and it is worth being clear about what they see.
- Netlify hosts the site. Like any web host, it receives your IP address whenever you load a page. That is how the page reaches you.
- Whop runs the checkout. You only reach it if you click through to buy, and at that point you are on Whop’s own domain under Whop’s privacy policy and its own cookie practices, which we do not control.
There are no embedded videos, no social media widgets, no chat bubbles, no advertising pixels, and no web fonts loaded from anyone else’s servers. The fonts on this site are served from this site.
